From the brand

We name the stone in full.
Corund comes from corundum, the mineral our stones are made of: aluminum oxide, Mohs 9. The mineral comes before our name. Each Corund piece holds one laboratory-grown sapphire in a plain bezel and ships with a label card, the way a mineral is labeled in a collection: the stone, how it was grown, its size and weight, and the number of its report. The metal is labeled the same way, in microns. If a fact is on the label, you can check it.

Why the name Corund?
Because it is what our stones are made of. They are corundum; we put the mineral first and the brand second.
Why grown and not mined?
Because we can name every step: grown, cut, set, with a report number. A laboratory-grown sapphire is corundum, the same mineral that comes out of the ground; we price it and label it as what it is.
Why a bezel?
Because it holds the stone all the way round, leaves nothing to catch, and keeps the back open so light comes through.
From the manufacturer
Module 1 · Premium Full Image

One stone, named in full.
A laboratory-grown blue sapphire in 18K gold vermeil, with a label that says what it is, how it was grown and how big it is.
Module 2 · Premium Single Image & Text

Grown, not mined.
A laboratory-grown sapphire is corundum: aluminum oxide colored blue by traces of iron and titanium, Mohs 9, the same mineral that comes out of the ground, grown as a crystal instead of dug. Corundum has been grown in a flame since 1902, when Auguste Verneuil announced the method. Ours was grown as a crystal, then cut and polished; how it was grown and any treatment are named on its label card. Every Corund piece ships with that card: the stone, its species, how it was grown, its size and weight, and the number of its report.
Module 3 · Premium Four Images & Text
Four details you can check.

Held all the way round
A full bezel closes the metal around the whole stone: no prongs to catch on knitwear or bend.

Open at the back
A round window about 3.8 mm wide behind the stone lets light in from behind and lets you wipe lotion out.

Faces forward
The bail is a fixed tube hidden behind the rim, so the pendant faces forward instead of turning over.

A lever for a thumbnail
The 12 x 6 mm lobster clasp has a lever you can press with a thumbnail; hold the clasp, not the chain.
Module 4 · Premium Full Image

What it is made of.
The vermeil column in section beside the back of the pendant: an 18K gold layer of 2.5 microns minimum, a palladium barrier and the 925 sterling silver core, with the 925 stamp on the bail.
Module 5 · Premium Single Image & Text

Sizes, in inches and millimeters.
Length: 18 in (46 cm) plus a 2 in (5 cm) extender, measured end to end including the clasp. Also sold as 16 in + 2 in extender (41 + 5 cm). The 16 in chain sits at the base of the neck and the 18 in on the collarbones; the extender takes the 18 in chain to 20 in, just below them. To choose a length for someone else: 1 lay a necklace they already wear flat on a table; 2 measure it end to end, clasp included; 3 choose the same length, and the 2 in (5 cm) extender adds the rest. From across a table it reads as one blue point on a line of gold vermeil; at a hand's distance, as a cut stone in a smooth wall. Pendant 8.3 mm across and 3.7 mm deep with the stone. Stone 6.5 mm. Chain 1.2 mm cable.

Module 7 · Premium Q&A
Before you choose.
What exactly is the stone?
A laboratory-grown sapphire: corundum, aluminum oxide, Mohs 9, grown as a crystal and then cut. Round, 6.5 mm. Its weight in ct, how it was grown, its treatment and its report number are printed on the label card in the box.
Will the blue look like the pictures?
A laboratory-grown blue sapphire changes with the light. The fifth image shows the same stone under three light colors: by a north window, under a warm lamp and in open shade. Expect it brighter by day and deeper in the evening.
What is under the gold layer?
925 sterling silver, with a palladium barrier layer between the silver and the gold layer. The gold layer is 18K, 2.5 microns minimum: gold vermeil, not solid gold.
Will it tarnish or wear?
Silver darkens with air and sweat, and the gold layer wears thin with time and use; replating is a normal service. Put it on last, take it off first, and wipe it with the plain cloth in the box when it dulls.
Should I take it off to swim or shower?
Yes. Remove it before swimming, showering, exercise and sleep, and keep it away from perfume, lotion and household chemicals. Not on vermeil: silver dip, cloths with polishing compound, toothpaste or baking soda.
How big is it, and which length should I choose?
The stone is 6.5 mm and the pendant 8.3 mm across. The 16 in (41 cm) chain sits at the base of the neck, the 18 in (46 cm) on the collarbones; both have a 2 in (5 cm) extender. The second image shows the positions on one neck, the fourth the pendant on a fingertip.
Can I open the clasp myself?
The lobster clasp is 12 x 6 mm with a lever you can press with a thumbnail; the sixth image shows it in a hand. Unclasp it before pulling a sweater over your head: a 1.2 mm chain is jewelry, not a rope.
Will the stone fall out?
The stone sits in a full bezel: the metal is closed over its edge all the way round, with no prongs to catch or bend. A knock on a hard edge can still chip any cut stone.
What comes in the box?
The necklace in a slide box with a 50 mm ruler printed on the tray, a cotton pouch, the label card with the stone's report number, a metal card, a care card, a plain microfiber cloth and an anti-tarnish strip. No price inside.
Product description
Corund One Stone is a pendant necklace with one round laboratory-grown blue sapphire, 6.5 mm, in a smooth full bezel with an open back and a fixed hidden bail, on a 1.2 mm cable chain with soldered links and a 12 x 6 mm lobster clasp with a lever you can press with a thumbnail. The bezel is 8.3 mm across, 3.7 mm deep with the stone; the round window in its back is about 3.8 mm.
Metal: 925 sterling silver plated with 18K gold, 2.5 microns minimum (gold vermeil). Not solid gold. Under the 18K gold layer: a palladium barrier. The gold layer is measured by XRF per lot.
Stone: laboratory-grown sapphire, 6.5 mm; not a mined stone. It is corundum, aluminum oxide, Mohs 9, grown as a crystal and then cut. Its report number is on the label card.
Length: 18 in (46 cm) plus a 2 in (5 cm) extender, measured end to end including the clasp. Also sold as 16 in + 2 in extender (41 + 5 cm).
Quality mark: stamped 925 with the maker's mark on the back of the bail.
Care: put it on last and take it off first; remove before swimming, showering, exercise and sleep; keep away from perfume, lotion, sweat and household chemicals; wipe with a soft dry cloth after wearing and store in the pouch. Gold plating and vermeil wear thin with time and use; replating is a normal service. When it dulls: thirty seconds with the plain cloth. Not on vermeil: silver dip, cloths with polishing compound, toothpaste, baking soda or ultrasonic baths; they take the gold layer off with the tarnish. If the gold layer wears thin, what shows is the 925 sterling silver core. A knock on a hard edge can still chip any cut stone.
In the box: a slide box with a 50 mm ruler on the tray, a cotton pouch, the label card, a metal card, a care card, a plain cloth with no polishing compound and an anti-tarnish strip. No price inside.
