  • Dishwasher, top rack
  • Gift box with a blank card
  • Care table inside the lid
How to use

Wash every piece before first use. Suction: wipe the tray and the base clean and dry, set the plate or bowl down and press the center for 3 seconds; to lift it off, pull the raspberry tab at the front. Lids: lift by the raspberry pull, not at the rim; the plate and bowl lids are for leftovers, not for liquids, and the straw lid can leak if the cup tips. Microwave: the plate and bowl only, lids off, in short bursts; stir and test the temperature before serving. Cup: start with the open cup and small sips of water; the straw lid is for days out. Bib: close it on one of the 4 pegs; roll it up to carry and the pegs hold it rolled. After the meal: rinse right after tomato, carrot, beet or turmeric, wash on the top rack of the dishwasher, pull the straw out and dry the suction rings. Sterilizing: boiling up to 5 minutes or an electric steam sterilizer, every piece; in a microwave steam sterilizer or steam bag, every piece except the long spoon, which has a steel core.

Materials

All pieces: platinum-cured, food-grade silicone in Damson, colored with food-contact pigments. Raspberry tabs: the same silicone, molded in as a second shot. Long spoon: an 18/8 (304) stainless steel stiffener, fully sealed inside the silicone. Bib pegs: molded silicone, no metal. Box: rigid paperboard in uncoated Flax-blue paper, flat cotton ribbon, folded paperboard insert, blank paper card.

Care

Wash before first use. Dishwasher safe, top rack, every piece. Microwave: the plate and bowl only, lids off, in short bursts; stir and test the temperature before serving. Not the cup, the lids, the spoons (the long spoon has a steel core) or the bib. Freezer: the plate and bowl with their lids; not the cup or the straw lid. Boiling up to 5 minutes and electric steam sterilizers: every piece. Microwave steam sterilizers and steam bags: every piece except the long spoon (steel core). Not for UV sterilizers, ovens or stove-tops. Stains: rinse right after tomato, carrot, beet or turmeric; to lift a tint, soak in 3% hydrogen peroxide for up to 1 hour, then wash and rinse well; a sunny window for up to 4 hours helps too. Soapy taste: use unscented detergent; soak 30 minutes in 1 part white vinegar to 2 parts hot water, then rinse. Drying: pull the straw out; dry the suction rings, the one place water sits.

Materials and tests

All pieces: platinum-cured, food-grade silicone in Damson, colored with food-contact pigments. Raspberry tabs: the same silicone, molded in as a second shot. Long spoon: an 18/8 (304) stainless steel stiffener, fully sealed inside the silicone. Bib pegs: molded silicone, no metal. Tested to FDA 21 CFR 177.2600; tested for lead and phthalates by a CPSC-accepted lab, and for cadmium; Children's Product Certificate available.

Will it stick to their high chair tray?

It holds on glass, sealed stone, laminate and smooth plastic trays. It may slip on wood grain, matte or textured trays, crumbs or a wet surface, and it won't hold on cloth, placemats or ridged trays. Side by side, the plate and bowl need a tray area of about 13 x 8 in (33 x 20 cm), so measure your tray first.

Can the baby pull it off?

A determined baby can. The raspberry tab at the front is for you: press the center down for 3 seconds on a clean, dry tray, lift the tab to release, and stay close.

The baby isn't born yet. Is it too early to give?

Give it whenever you like. It's for 6 months and up, when a baby can sit upright with support, and it waits in its box until then.

Does it stain?

Tomato, carrot, beet and turmeric can tint silicone, most on light colors. Rinse right after the meal. To lift a tint, soak in 3% hydrogen peroxide for up to 1 hour, then wash and rinse well; a sunny window for up to 4 hours helps too. Damson, the darkest color, hides most of it.

Why does food sometimes taste of soap?

Silicone can pick up scent from perfumed detergent. Use an unscented one; if it happens, soak for 30 minutes in 1 part white vinegar to 2 parts hot water, then rinse.

Open cup or straw?

Start with the open cup and small sips of water. The straw lid is for when you're out; it can leak if the cup tips, so fill it when you get there.

About Linnet

Named for a meal

The linnet is a small brown songbird; in summer the male wears a raspberry-red breast. Its name comes from lin, the old French word for flax, because it eats flax seed: a bird named after its meal. We make one thing for the table, a feeding set that someone gives and a family uses every day from the first spoonful to 24 months. Everything you pull on it is the linnet's raspberry, and the care table is printed inside the lid.
