How to use

1. Before each session, bend each tube where it meets its tabs and at the = middle, and check every clip, handle, strap and the anchor. 2. Put the foam block behind the door on the hinge side, at the height of the move, then close and lock the door. 3. Clip one tab of a tube to each handle, or clip several tubes to one handle; check that every clip gate is closed. 4. Give a light test pull, then step back: hands about 5 ft (1.5 m) from the door is 2x; about 7 ft (2.1 m) is 3x, the stop. 5. Standing on a tube: center the = under both shoes, shoes on. Over 183 cm (6 ft), clip the extenders between tab and handle for raises. 6. Pull only in the direction the door closes and keep the line of pull below your shoulders. 7. About 6 x 3 ft (1.8 x 0.9 m) of clear floor. Shoes on. Never tie a tube to a radiator, pipe or furniture.

Questions, care and the warning

Before you pull

What is in the roll?

5 tubes, 48 in (122 cm): yellow 5, green 10, red 20, purple 30, black 40 lb, each at 2x; 2 handles; 2 ankle straps; 2 extenders of 12 in (30 cm); door anchor with a smooth sleeve and a foam block; roll case; wear card, door card and a 4-week plan. 13 pieces plus cards, about 2.7 lb (1.2 kg).

Why does every number say 'at 2x'?

A tube pulls harder the further you stretch it. We stretch each Evenhold tube to twice its resting length (100% elongation) and print the pull there. Short of 2x you feel less, past it more. Never stretch a tube past 3 times its resting length.

Can I tell the tubes apart without seeing color?

Yes. The number is printed on both faces of both tabs, the order is always light to dark (5, 10, 20, 30, 40), and heavier tubes are thicker.

Do the numbers add up when I clip tubes together?

Yes, when the tubes are on the same handle and stretch the same length: 10 + 20 = 30 lb, both at 2x. Clip tubes together and you have every 5 lb from 5 to 105 lb, all five tubes at 2x.

Which doors work with the anchor?

A solid hinged door that opens away from you. On your side you can't see the hinges; if you can, train from the other side. Slide the foam block behind the door on the hinge side, close and lock the door, test with a light pull, and pull only the way the door closes. Never a door handle, a sliding, glass or hollow door, or furniture.

I'm tall. Are the tubes long enough?

Each tube is 48 in (122 cm), 24 in (61 cm) each side of the =. Over 183 cm (6 ft), clip the 12 in (30 cm) extenders between tab and handle, so raises stay under 2x and the pull stays under the number. The plan is sized for 150 to 196 cm (4 ft 11 in to 6 ft 5 in).

Why no overhead presses?

An overhead press runs the tube up past your face, and for most heights it passes 3x. Every move in the plan keeps the line of pull below your shoulders.

Is it latex?

Yes, the tubes are natural rubber latex. Caution: This Product Contains Natural Rubber Latex Which May Cause Allergic Reactions. If anyone who will touch the set reacts to latex, please don't buy this one.

It smells of rubber. Is that normal?

Fresh latex smells for a few days. Air the tubes out of the case and wipe them with a damp cloth. Keep them out of the sun.

How do I know when to replace a tube?

Ten seconds before every session: bend each end where it meets its tabs, and the = middle. Whitening, cracks, a sticky feel or a nick: stop and replace that number. Single tubes are sold by number.

Can I get a second pair of handles?

Yes. Handles are sold as a pair, so two moves can stay set up.

About Evenhold

Center the =. Hold it even

Evenhold began with one mark: two short lines printed at the exact middle of every tube. Center the = in the door anchor or under your shoes and both halves are the same length, so each hand holds the same number. The rest followed: five tubes from light to dark, each number measured at twice the tube's resting length and printed on both tabs, a pocket for every number, and a card that tells you when a tube is done.
