How to use

Measure the widest part of the chest just behind the front legs and pick the size from the chart. Unbuckle both sides, slip the harness over the head with the label at the chest, click the two side buckles, then adjust the four points until two fingers fit under each strap. Clip the leash to the front ring for training walks and to the back ring for relaxed walks. Check the fit every few weeks on a growing dog.

Materials

Harness: 600D nylon webbing and shell, polyester air mesh lining, EVA foam padding, POM quick-release buckles, zinc alloy D-rings with matte black finish, reflective polyester piping. Leash: 600D nylon webbing, neoprene-padded handle, zinc alloy swivel snap hook.

Safety

Supervise your dog while wearing the harness. Check buckles, stitching and rings before each walk and stop using the set if any part is damaged. Not a car restraint; not for tie-out, towing or lifting a dog by the handle for more than a moment. Keep away from puppies as a chew toy.

Where it goes

One harness for every kind of walk

  • City mornings

    City mornings

Curbs, crossings and crowds. Clip to the front ring, keep the handle within reach, and the walk to the cafe stays calm.

  • Weekend trails

    Weekend trails

The padded handle helps over logs and rocks, the mesh pad breathes on the climb, and the back ring lets a good walker lead the way.

  • Off-season beaches

    Off-season beaches

Sand, salt water and a full-speed run. Rinse, machine wash on cold, air dry, and it is ready for the next one.

Why the clip is at the front

Two ways to clip

Why the clip is at the front

A leash on the back of a dog that pulls becomes a sled rope: the harder the dog leans, the better it pulls. A leash on the chest cannot be leaned into. When the dog surges, the ring turns the chest to the side and the dog comes back toward you.

  • Start on the front ring for training walks
  • Move to the back ring once the pulling fades
  • Use both rings together with a double-ended leash if you like
  • A harness changes how a pull lands; training does the rest

How to put it on

On in seconds

  1. Over the head

    Over the head

Unbuckle both sides and slip the harness over the head, label at the chest.

  2. Click the sides

    Click the sides

Close the two quick-release buckles under the chest. No paw lifting.

  3. Two-finger check

    Two-finger check

Two fingers should fit flat under each strap: snug, not tight.

  4. Set once

    Set once

Adjust the four points on the first walk; after that it goes on in seconds.

Before you order

Size chart

Measure the widest part of the chest just behind the front legs. XS: 13 to 17 in (33 to 43 cm). S: 16 to 21 in (41 to 53 cm). M: 20 to 26 in (51 to 66 cm). L: 24 to 33 in (61 to 84 cm). XL: 30 to 40 in (76 to 102 cm). Between sizes, choose the larger one.

Will the front clip stop my dog from pulling?

It changes what a pull does: instead of dragging you forward, it turns the dog toward you. The habit changes with practice, so give it a few outings; patient training does the rest.

Which size should I order?

Measure the widest part of the chest just behind the front legs and use the chart on image 5. Between sizes, choose the larger one; the four adjusters take up the slack.

Can my dog wear it in the car?

No. It is not a crash-tested car restraint. For rides use a crash-tested car harness or a crate, and clip Trail Set on when you arrive.

How do I wash it?

Close the buckles, machine wash on cold in a laundry bag, air dry. No bleach, no dryer.

Why a Y-shaped front?

A strap straight across the chest sits over the shoulder joints and shortens the stride. The Y sits on the breastbone, so the front legs swing freely.

Which size for a growing puppy?

Measure today, choose the size whose range your dog is in now, and set the adjusters loose; the Puppy Set covers the first months, then Trail Set in whatever size the chart says.

About Dashwell

Dashwell started on a 6 a.m. walk

Every dog owner knows the walk that is mostly arm. We wanted gear that made the walk feel good for both ends of the leash: a clip at the front for the pulling days, a clip at the back for the easy ones, a shape that leaves shoulders free, and reflective piping for the early and the late walks. One harness, three colors, five sizes, and a leash that matches.
